One of my best friends and biggest blog supporters, McKenzie, suggested that I post “A Day in the Life” every now and then, which I looove. I’m obsessed with reading about people’s schedules, so why not share my weird one? This is a pretty specific play-by-play of what I did yesterday which will be very different than today (and everyday this week – anyone coming to town for The Southern C Summit?? I’ll be posting from their social media all week, so follow along!)
6:00 a.m. Rise & Shine alarm starts.
6:01 a.m. I fumble with my phone (Apple’s alarm is so confusing when you’re half asleep, right??) and hit *SNOOZE*
6:45 a.m. I put my feet on the ground and go into the kitchen to make coffee. While it’s brewing, I grab my laptop off the kitchen table (I don’t sleep with it anymore!), and get back in bed with Hasell. First, I re-read my blog post that went live at 6:00, posted it to Facebook, and made sure it pushed to other social channels. Then, I read the newest She Reads Truth post. I love starting my day off on this note!
Coffee is ready at this point, so I grab that and a bowl of cereal to eat/drink in bed 🙂
Next up, I read all one billion blogs I subscribe to (via bloglovin‘). It’s actually one of my favorite parts of the day. A few months ago, I started reading them all before I even got out of bed, because then I was never reading during work hours. I love sipping coffee and reading what everyone has worked so hard to post that day.
Of course, I checked in over on Instagram and Twitter and Snapchat (anniereeves). Occasionally I’ll schedule a tweet or two, but most of my social media happens in the moment.
8:15 a.m. Jumped in the shower to quickly get ready for the day…
8:50 a.m. Out the door to be in Mount Pleasant by 9 (wearing these babies by Del Toro x Moda Operandi)
9:02 a.m. Coffee #2 and weekly meeting at The Cassina Group (one of my clients!)
9:00-11:30 a.m. Still at Cassina, I scheduled social content for the next few weeks, read up on any/all Charleston news worth sharing, and worked on a blog post that will go live over there on Thursday
11:45 a.m. I met the publisher of Charleston Inside Out Magazine (another client) at a store in the Old Village called Out of Hand. We’re working on a blog post about Mother’s Day that will go up on their blog next week.
12:15 p.m. Abby and I had lunch at the Village Bakery just down the street. It was a cute location, but I think I’ll try the Pharmacy next time instead.
1:10 p.m. I got home, let Hasell out (we matched yesterday), ate some wasabi peas, and scheduled more social content for a few other clients.
2:15 p.m. I did 30 minutes of reading (The Husband’s Secret) because I was having a difficult time concentrating.
2:48 p.m. Responded to a few emails and checked in on clients’ social pages
3:45 p.m. I hopped in my car to go downtown, pick up a check ($$$$$ PTL I’m seeing as I’m overdrawn), and hit the bank. It’s not one of my favorite activities since it’s a little inconvenient to access, but I’m noooot complaining.
4:12 p.m. Find a parking spot on King Street – hallelujah! – have no quarters. Guess what I walked outside to 45 minutes later?
4:30 p.m. Monthly meeting at Bob Ellis (another client). It’s a fabulous shoe store, if don’t already know. I’m new to the job, and I’m excited to get the ball rolling here!
5:02 p.m. Send last group of work emails
5:23 p.m. Facetime Dolls (my mom) to let her know that Hasell will be boarded at home when we leave (NEXT FRIDAY, HELLO VACATION!!!!) because every boarder here is, like, a hotel for dogs and way too expensive. Even though I don’t hate the idea of being about to check in on the HasellNut via webcam (*laughing crying emoji here*)
5:48 p.m. Reluctantly headed out the door on a run. I wasn’t excited, but the weather was seriously PERFECT, so it ended up not being as bad as I was expecting. Side note: I try not to decide how far/long I’m going to run until after the first mile. Those first few minutes are always killer, but it really gets (a little) better after that. This playlist is my jam.
6:32 p.m. Return from run, turn A/C waaaay down, sit outside with Hasell listening to my favorite worship song “Holy Spirit” by Jesus Culture because sometimes running makes me emotional.
7:00 p.m. DINNER. I made a seriously delicious sandwich (imitating this one) by frying two eggs over-easy (one of which I dropped on the ground before it made it to the plate), toasting Ezekiel bread, spreading sriracha on one side with pepper jack cheese on top, avocado and red pepper flakes on the other, and egg on top of cheese. So easy, soooooo delicious.
7:30 p.m. Unload dishwasher, reload dishwasher, pick up dirty clothes off the floor, etc. before jumping in the shower.
8:00 p.m. PJ’S, blog research (who’s coming to Southern Blog Society conference in CHS?? I want to make sure I’m reading/following everyone!), annnnnd wasted time on social media.
9:00 p.m. Started this post AND…
10:30 p.m. Here I am. About to add some photos, close the computer, grab my Kindle and Hasell, and get in the BED. Of course, there will be one final Instagram check-in. #addicted
SO, that’s a fairly normal-ish Monday in the life! Is this interesting at all? Are you really still reading all the way to this point? Do you want more like this (with cooler people)??? HMU in the comments. <3 <3 <3
