I arrived in Nashville on Thursday evening for a quick (and quite last minute) trip to see some friends. My best friend lives there, and three of our other close and long-time friends/sisters came to join on Friday afternoon. Caroline and I immediately headed to Bartaco for a late dinner on Thursday. I know, I know, visiting a chain when traveling is not cool at all. However, I love Mexican food so much, and there’s nothing like this spot in Charleston! The spicy marg (their regular, fresh-squeezed margarita with added fresh jalapeño) is my favorite of all time. So clean and delicious and refreshing and, obviously, spicy.
Friday morning, Caroline headed to work and I finished up most of my work from the apartment. I spent the afternoon exploring and running a few errands. Of note, I bought my (no joke) favorite boyfriend jeans of all time at Nordstrom (size down 1-2 sizes). Didn’t take them off for the remainder of the weekend. Also, this candle from Draper James smells like my favorite diptyque for a fraction of the price. Not mad about that.
Shops I loved on 12 South: Emerson Grace, Cadeau, White’s Mercantile
I had lunch at Proper Bagel per recommendation of my pal Marika and seriously, it’s a CAN’T MISS. I absolutely loved this place. The avocado toast was out of control good, as was the kale salad. I would definitely go back for a bagel next time! Also, it’s just a short (and beautiful) walk from trendy 12 South.
Friday night, we had a nice and long dinner at Pinewood Social. This has been on my list since Rachel did a little series over here a while back, so I was excited to try it out. Verdict: awesome vibe + food (we didn’t get to bowl!).
On Saturday, we did Urban Grub for brunch, drove around Nash, hung out in a park with live music + food trucks, took photos at avocado walls, etc. Mooooost importantly, I broke my one-month sugar cleanse for a 100 layer donut from Five Daughters Bakery. OMG. It’s a good thing we don’t have this in Charleston, because we’d have a problem on our hands. I actually was on a post-donut sugar high (during which there are 100000 photos of me jumping in front of the avocados), but it was. so. good. I had the turtle flavor in case you were wondering.
Dinner was a fabulous meal at Moto (part of the M Street restaurants – I’ve heard great things about all of them!). I didn’t snap photos because we were deep in conversation, but my food was delish.
Great place, great weekend, reeaaaaally great people. I left feeling thankful and proud to know all of these ladies! They’re good ones.
